Luciana Martorano spoke yesterday about Competition & Online Platforms at the GCR Live 2nd Annual Women in Antitrust.
The event was held in Washington, D.C. and gathered together leading female practitioners and enforcers to discuss the evolving theories of competition law around the world today.
Theories of harm in multi-sided platform markets, algorithmic conducts, most favorable nation clauses, non-discrimination and non-self-favoring obligations and the usage of traditional antitrust tools to online platforms were some of the hot topics discussed by the panel.
Elodie Vandenhende (Autorite de la concurrence, Paris), Amanda Reeves (Latham & Watkins) and Bojana Ignjatovic (RBB Economics) also shared the same panel.
The Commissioner Paula Farani of the Brazilian Antitrust Watchdog (CADE) participated in the Enforcers’ roundtable and revealed that the agency will become part of the country’s foreign trade chamber following a policy to avoid conflicts between competition enforcement and foreign trade regulations.
The event was organized by GCR in association with the Women’s Competition Network. Edith Ramirez (Hogan Lovells, Washington, DC and Los Angeles) and Kristina Nordlander (Sidley Austin, Brussels) were the chairs.

O evento foi realizado em Washington, D.C. e reuniu líderes profissionais e acadêmicas para discutir as teorias em evolução do direito da concorrência em todo o mundo hoje.
Alguns dos tópicos discutidos pelo painel foram: teorias de danos em mercados de plataformas multilaterais, condutas algorítmicas, cláusulas de nação mais favorecidas (MFNs), obrigações de não-discriminação e não-auto-favorecimento e o uso de ferramentas antitruste tradicionais para analisar casos envolvendo plataformas.

A Conselheira do CADE Paula Farani participou da Mesa Redonda das Autoridades e revelou que a autarquia passará a fazer parte da Câmara Exterior de Comércio em cumprimento a uma política para evitar conflitos entre a aplicação do direito da concorrência e as normas de comércio exterior.
